Description
Marques de Grinon Petit Verdot 2018 – full bodied wine with a complex character.
The vineyards of the Marques de Grinon are located in the region of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The wines are made from the vineyard of the Domino de Valdepusa in Pago, which has belonged to the family since 1292. Its height of about 330 meters is one of the highest in Spain, and the top layer of soil, almost pure limestone, is very similar to the land of Burgundy. It is therefore one of the most exclusive vineyards in the country.
Carlos Falcó Fernandez de Córdova is the founder of the Marques de Grinon brand. After graduating from the University of California, he returned to his native land. Carlos Falco experimented with international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, modernized wine-making in the country with the introduction of drip irrigation, partial vine root drying, night harvesting, founded the prestigious Grandes Pagos de España association, making it one of the most advanced in the world. began to be called the father of Spanish wine.
Marques de Grinon presented on the market 100% Petit Verdot wine, the berries of which grow on old, 30-year-old vines on an area of 9 hectares in the Valdepusa vineyard. Long, 4 – 5 weeks, maceration (storage with cuticles) results in an intense red color, rich and complex amplitude of aromas and palette. The wine is then aged for 12 to 15 months in new French oak barrels. Marques de Grinon Petit Verdot 2016 can be used now or kept for another 10 – 15 years. We recommend decanting and serving in lightly cooled, large cups at 15 – 17 ° C. Goes well with steaks, game, poultry and matured cheeses.
