Description
Torello Finca Can Marti Brut Corpinnat DO – Fresh and fruity sparkling wine with hints of creamy notes from Spain.
The Torello family-run wine house was founded in 1395 in the Penedes region of Spain. As early as 1951, Francisco Torelló began making wine and Cava from his own berries grown in the Can Marti area. This winery is now run by the 22nd and 23rd generations of the family, which owns 135 hectares of vineyards. Since 2014, the vineyards they manage have been grown according to ecological principles. To make the Penedès region famous for its sparkling wines, but seeing that DO Cava can’t deliver the desired quality, Torello, along with several other winemakers, formed the Corpinnat Association in 2015, which was also ratified by the European Union in late 2017. Its producers must produce wines from 100% organic, sustainable vineyards. The crop must be harvested by hand. The wines must be produced in the Corpinnat area using at least 90% local varieties. Corpinnat wine must also be fermented, matured and bottled on wine farms for at least 18 months. All of these rules and requirements ensure better reflection and quality of the area.
One of the wines in Torello’s portfolio is Torello Finca Can Marti Brut Corpinnat DO 2014. Produced by the traditional method, where secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle. This wine is a blend of 32% Chardonnay, 32% Xarello, 22% Macabeo and 14% Parellada berries. The wine is then matured for 48 months with yeast.
