About the winemaker:
Weingut Hirsch Kammerner Grub Gruner Vetliner 2014

Weingut Hirsch is one of the leading wine producers in Kamptal, Austria.

1878 The Hirsch family took over the homestead, which was built during the Renaissance and is now owned by the fifth generation. As was customary in the past, the Hirsch family engaged in a variety of farming in which wine played a major role. This remained the case until the late 1970s, when Johannes Hirsch’s father recognized that specialized viticulture really had a bright future in a nature-friendly region like Kamptal. Johannes ’father, Joseph Hirsch, originally took over 2.5 acres of vineyard from his father. And it was not long before he gained more vineyard land. From the beginning, however, he did so revolutionarily, growing grapes in places that no one else wanted to have. If you are unsure of the path you have chosen, you cannot allow yourself to be annoyed by other gossip or fear - this belief is like a slogan for the development of the Hirsch estate.

About the region:
The wine-growing region of Kamptal, about 200-300 meters above sea level, has a favorable climate in the south and south-east, which is also influenced by the nearby Danube. As a result, there are hot days in summer and long and sunny periods in autumn, when the warm air currents of Pannonia from the southeast are quite noticeable. Cool winds blow from the northwest, so the nights are cool even in summer. These contrasts are ideal for growing grapes with thick tails, forming a great fruity aroma and giving a steel acidity. At the same time, the Manhartsberg Barrier and the high forests of the upper part of Kamptal protect the region from any harsh cold. The long growing season lasts until late autumn, which gives the grapes enough opportunity to fully ripen.
Tasting properties:
Aromatic and delicate - elegant white, dry wine made from Gruner Vetliner grapes. Long and refreshing aftertaste. Flavors of tropical fruits such as passion fruit and pineapple open up. There is a slight aroma of honey. The structure of the nuts is beautifully complemented by ripe fruit and a long, slightly spicy and mineral aftertaste.

Wine production:
The crop is harvested in late September / early October. Fermentation using natural yeast, maturation takes place both in stainless steel tanks and in large oak barrels. The wine was matured with lees until mid-May, before being bottled in late July and released in 2015. September.
