Description
Weingut Knipser Mandelpfad Riesling Grosse Lage VDP 2022 is a very good quality white dry wine made in the Phalz region of Germany.
The Kipser wine house was one of the first to be established in the Phalz region in 1876 in the town of Laumersheim. This village was famous for its winemaking as early as the Middle Ages. Written sources mention the town’s vineyards since 769. And archaeological finds suggest that wine was produced in these areas during the Roman Empire. Although the current winery began operations in 1876, intensive use of its name brand Knipser did not begin until 1948. Heinz Knipser began making wine under his own name and began selling it directly, as well as supplying the surrounding restaurants.
Winemaking style:
Innovative ideas for producing high-quality, dry (mainly dry) white wines, which were characteristic of the time, have laid a great foundation for future generations and are maintained to this day. The Knipser family never compromises on quality. As a result, they use only their own grapes and don’t need to grow or expand. And now this winery only produces up to 400,000 bottles. Knipser Wine House is famous for its premium Riesling and Pinot Noir grape wines aged in oak barrels. This is how the wine is made: hand-picked grapes are re-selected in the winery, and after fermentation, some of the wine is matured in large (600 L) old oak barrels. In this way, the wine becomes even more intense and complex.
Taste: Weingut Knipser Mandelpfad Riesling Grosse Lage The aroma of VDP wine is dominated by ripe fruits: green apples, pears, stone fruits: peaches, apricots. The wine is very complex but elegant and well ripened, rich, fresh, well-balanced acid and extremely long aftertaste. The wine perfectly express the character of the Phalz region and its advantages. It is much warmer here and the wines it produces are heavier, more fruitful and more complex.
Serving: We offer to serve this wine at a temperature of 7 degrees. It’s definitely worth opening it at least half an hour before enjoying dinner. And it goes well with seafood, fried fish, or Asian cuisine. But due to its intense character, this wine can also be combined with white or red meat. What you will not regret – buying and maturing this wine for another 5-10 years.
