Description
Weingut Hirsch Ried Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner 2023 Kamptal DAC – a vibrant and elegant wine.
Weingut Hirsch is a family-owned winery in the Kamptal appellation, Austria, located in the historic town of Kammern. The family estate has existed here since 1878, and today it is managed by the fifth generation. The true turning point in the winery’s history occurred in the late 1970s, when Johannes Hirsch’s father, Josef Hirsch, made the bold and revolutionary decision to abandon mixed farming and focus all efforts solely on viticulture, purchasing plots that others undervalued at the time.
One of the standout creations in the Hirsch portfolio is the Ried Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner. This wine is made from grapes grown in the prestigious Gaisberg vineyard, renowned for its calcareous and loess-loam soils. The wine is crafted from 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes, fermented and aged in large neutral oak casks and stainless steel tanks to maintain maximum fruit purity, minerality, and natural energy.
Taste: The wine features delicate aromas of white apple, lemon balm, wildflowers, and fresh hay, intertwined with a subtle hint of white pepper. The palate reveals notes of juicy white pear, mandarin peel, and citrus fruits, accompanied by a crisp, finely woven acid structure and a long-lasting mineral finish.
Serving: Weingut Hirsch Ried Gaisberg Grüner Veltliner 2023 is already beautifully balanced and ready to enjoy, but thanks to its structure, it can be successfully cellared for another 10–15 years. We recommend serving it lightly chilled, at a temperature of 10–12°C, in a classic white wine glass. It pairs perfectly with fish dishes, seafood, crab or lobster, poultry, and light Asian cuisine.
