Description
Xavier Vignon Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee 2000 – an exceptional wine that has retained excellent fruitiness, youthful acidity with velvety tannins.
Xavier Vignon is a well-known oenologist around the world, who produces not only his own wine, but also consults other winemakers. Xavier’s story and interest in wine began when he was studying at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Reims. There, he accidentally met a winemaker who aroused the young man’s desire to deepen his knowledge in this field. For this reason, Xavier applied for the preparatory class of the French DNO (National Diploma of Oenology). Unfortunately, the number of places at this school was limited, and preference was given to those who were from a winemaking family.
However, this prompted Xavier to work in several champagne houses and gain knowledge through internships. Later, he studied agronomy, oenology, and worked on various wine farms in Alsace, Bordeaux, and Champagne, where he learned the art of subtle blending and tasting techniques. Eventually, Xavier settled in the Rhône Valley, founded the consulting company “Povidis”, and produced wines in very small quantities and without any commercial structure.
They were mostly sold to friends or their acquaintances. Xavier’s life turned upside down when one of his friends sent his “garage” wine to the “Hachette Guide”, where it was rated with the highest scores. Since then, Xavier’s reputation has only grown, his wines have attracted critical attention, won awards and high ratings, and exported to 25 countries. One of his wines is from the well-known Chateauneuf – du – Pape appellation, which is located in the Rhône Valley.
It perfectly reflects Xavier’s passion for new discoveries. The blend is dominated by the Grenache grape, complemented by Cinsault and some white varieties such as Grenache Blanc and Clairette. Xavier Vignon Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee 2000 can be enjoyed now or stored for another 10-20 years.
We recommend decanting and serving slightly chilled, at a temperature of 16 – 18°C.
Goes well with lamb, beef roasts or duck dishes and with “Comte” cheese.
