Description
Jaffelin Meursault Blanc 2022 – an elegant, rich and complex Burgundian Chardonnay, showcasing the character of one of France’s most prestigious white wine appellations.
Maison Jaffelin is a historic Burgundian winery whose story began in 1816 in the town of Beaune, in the heart of the Côte d’Or. With over two centuries of experience and an in-depth understanding of Burgundy’s terroir, the estate has developed a distinctive style that combines elegance, authenticity and respect for local traditions. Maison Jaffelin places particular emphasis on expressing the character of Burgundy’s individual appellations, seeking to capture the unique identity of each wine’s place of origin.
Meursault is one of Burgundy’s most renowned white wine appellations, located in the Côte de Beaune. The village is celebrated worldwide for its rich, complex and elegant Chardonnay wines, which combine ripe fruit, subtle oak influences and refreshing minerality. Jaffelin Meursault Blanc 2022 is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the Les Forges vineyard, situated west of the village of Meursault. The soils here are relatively shallow, allowing the grapes to express the distinctive character of the local terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new. The wine is aged for 11 months, with periodic bâtonnage (lees stirring), adding creaminess, texture and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
The wine displays a rich golden-yellow colour with delicate golden reflections. The aromatic profile is fruity and complex, revealing notes of rhubarb, ripe yellow fruits and subtle oak nuances.
On the palate, it offers an expressive, rich and creamy texture, complemented by ripe fruit flavours. Ageing in oak barrels contributes notes of toasted almonds, delicate roasted nuances and additional depth. The finish is long and subtly mineral, with pleasant nutty characteristics and lingering elegance.
Serving:
Jaffelin Meursault Blanc 2022 can be enjoyed now, but thanks to its structure and oak ageing, it also has the potential to develop further in the bottle. Its recommended ageing potential is approximately 5–6 years.
We recommend serving at 12–14°C in a large Burgundy white wine glass.
It pairs beautifully with seafood, seared scallops, lobster, fish prepared with butter-based sauces, poultry, creamy sauces and foie gras.
