Description
Weingut Hirsch Hirschin Riesling 2019 – light, juicy, and elegant Riesling with vibrant acidity, naturally retained residual sugar, and low alcohol. The wine reveals playful notes of citrus fruits, green apple, and subtle minerality, reflecting the sandstone soils and a precise, thoughtful winemaking style. Its excellent balance and refined energy make it suitable both for everyday enjoyment and for pairing with light dishes.
The naturally retained residual sugar in this wine results from a deliberately early-stopped fermentation. This means that not all of the grape sugar was converted into alcohol. This explains the lower alcohol level of approximately 8.5%. Thanks to the naturally high acidity characteristic of the Riesling variety, the residual sugar is perfectly balanced, giving the wine roundness, freshness, and harmonious structure.
On the palate, the wine is fresh, harmonious, and well-structured, with bright yet well-integrated acidity that provides energy and aging potential. Fruit-driven flavors are complemented by mineral notes of stone, wet slate, and chalk, leading to a long, clean, and elegant finish. This wine is a tribute to the winemaker’s wife, Sandra, who especially appreciates this playful Riesling style—light, juicy, and full of finesse.
This Riesling is enjoyable now but can also be cellared for several years, during which it will gain additional complexity. Serve well chilled at 8–10 °C.
