Description
Marchesi Antinori Tignanello IGT 2017 – a complex, well structured wine with perfect balance between of youth and maturity. Lots of red, black fruits like black cherry, plum aromas with notes of sweet tobacco, spices and vanilla. Energetic palette with refined, silky tannins. Long, persistent aftertaste.
The majority of this wine consists of the classic Tuscan grape, Sangiovese. Every year, the winemaker supplements this wine with a small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, which come from the Bordeaux region of France. The fruit itself used to make this product is collected from the 57 ha section of Tenuta Tignanello, which is 390 meters above sea level. The vineyards are located on the Albarese limestone soil, which gives the wine minerality and complexity. After selecting the best quality grapes, the wine is fermented in conical oak tanks, which retain the fruitiness of the drink due to slower fermentation, and then it is also aged for up to 16 months in French and Hungarian oak barique barrels (225 L) (both new and used oak are used – this gives additional softness to the wine).
In 2020, the prestigious business wine magazine rated this Marchesi Antinori vintage with 96 points out of 100.
Service recommendation:
We recommend enjoying the wine immediately or keeping it in the bottle for another 15 years. Before tasting the wine from the Syrah/Bordeaux glass, it is advisable to decant for 30 minutes and enjoy it with game, spicy grilled dishes.
