Description
Montes Purple Angel Rapel Valley 2020 – ripe and full bodied.
Well-structured palette with round tannins and pleasant acid. The Montes company was founded in 1987 in the Kolchagva Valley. Its founders Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand sought to raise the quality of Chilean wines and their exports. They built the winery itself according to the principles of Feng Shui, which combine all the basic elements. Their first wine is Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon. Distinguished from the wines of the then country’s market by its concentrated body, complexity and weight, it caught the public’s attention and immediately became an international success. This has encouraged the company to continue experimenting creatively, ensuring consistency and quality. This winery is now the fifth in Chile in terms of wine exports, with a wide variety of berries such as Chardonnay, Merlot or Syrah and their blends on the market. One of them is Purple Angel. Produced from 92% Carmenere and 8% Petit Verdot berries grown in the Kolchagva Valley. This great wine is a new reflection of the Carmenere berry. After all, until recently, she was considered extinct in the Bordeaux Valley, her first “home.” Montes Purple Angel has been recognized by critics as Chile’s best Carmenere. The wine is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
