Description
Weingut Knipser Chardonnay*** 2022 is a intense, powerfull, gastronomic and elegant wine with strong acidity, aromas of yellow fruit, full body and long aftertaste.
It was produced in a very hot and dry vintage. That is why this wine is so complex, rich in fruits and has a long lasting aftertaste.
The Knipser wine house was one of the first to be established in the Phalz region in 1876 in the town of Laumersheim. This village was famous for its winemaking as early as the Middle Ages. Written sources mention the town’s vineyards since 769. And archaeological finds suggest that wine was produced in these areas during the Roman Empire. Although the current winery began operations in 1876, intensive use of its name brand Knipser did not begin until 1948.
Heinz Knipser began making wine under his own name and began selling it directly, as well as supplying the surrounding restaurants. Innovative ideas for producing high-quality, dry (mainly dry) white wines, which were characteristic of the time, have laid a great foundation for future generations and are maintained to this day. And now this winery only produces up to 400,000 bottles.
Taste: intense lemon complimented by the notes of ripe yellow fruits – guava, pineapple, baked apple. As well hints of almonds and hazelnuts, caramel and spices – vanilla, cedar, cinnamon. The wine has a strong, elegant acidity, full body and long aftertaste. Wine made from Chardonnay grapes is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. Storing with yeast, constantly darkening them, creates a strong character and gives them texture.
Serving: We offer to cool the wine to a temperature of 10 degrees. During service aerate for 30-45 minutes before enjoying and serve in a wider, Burgundy-style glass. The wine can be enjoyed now or stored for another 10 years.
