Description
Weingut Knipser Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon – wine of exceptional quality made from 80% Merlot ir 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties in Pfalz region, Germany.
The Kipser wine house was one of the first to be established in the Pfalz region in 1876 in the town of Laumersheim. This village was famous for its winemaking as early as the Middle Ages. Written sources mention the town’s vineyards since 769. And archaeological finds suggest that wine was produced in these areas during the Roman Empire.
Although the current winery began operations in 1876, intensive use of its name brand Knipser did not begin until 1948. Heinz Knipser began pouring wine under his own name and began selling it directly, as well as supplying the surrounding restaurants.
Innovative ideas for producing high-quality, dry (namely dry) white wines, which were uncharacteristic of the time, have laid a great foundation for future generations and are maintained to this day.
The Knipser family never compromises on quality, so they use only their own grapes and have little need to grow and expand. And now this winery only produces up to 400,000 bottles.
Even though Germany, as well as Pfalz region are mostly known for their crisp whites. Weingut Knipser and it’s brilliant, continious experiment with international grape varieties shows the undiscovered potential of these lands. Weingut Knipser Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon is a living proof of that.
