Description
Delas Chateauneuf-du-Pape “Haute Pierre” AOC 2017
The history of this winery dates back to 1835, when Charles Audibert and Philippe Delas agreed to purchase the Maisons Junique winery. At the time, it was called Audibert et Delas, but when the sons Henri and Florentin Delas took power, the name was changed to Delas Freres. The sons expanded the number of vineyards available in the Hermitage appeal and acquired new areas in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appeal. They also ensured constant production quantity and quality, expanded trade business and exports. The wine of the Rhône Valley from these houses was known from London to the United States.
Delas Freres merged with Deutz Champagne House in 1977 and has been under the umbrella of the Louis Roederer Group since 1993. However, this did not prevent him from maintaining his identity and following his own philosophy. The company now owns vineyards located in both the northern and southern parts of the Rhône.
One of their portfolio wines is Haute Pierre, produced in the Chateauneuf – du – Pape appeal in southern Rhone. The mixture of this wine consists of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah berries. Primary and malolactic (where fresher malic acid is converted to milder lactic acid) fermentations take place in concrete tanks. The wine is then matured in large oak containers for 8 to 14 months.
