Description
Louis Jadot is one of the most important wineries in Burgundy, both in terms of scale and quality. Founded in 1859, the estate today manages over 211 hectares of land, of which 112 hectares belong to Premier and Grand Cru classifications. The winery’s bottles are easily recognisable by the image of the god Bacchus on the label. Louis Jadot’s range is exceptionally broad – covering over 200 wines, from approachable Burgundy and Beaujolais to the productions of prestigious appellations and small, coveted vineyards.
The “Les Referts” vineyard sits on a mid-slope parcel, neighbouring the famous Meursault Charmes. Its thin, stony soils lend the wine a distinctive elegance and subtle minerality. Chardonnay grapes are harvested entirely by hand and gently pressed at the winery, with the resulting juice transferred directly into French oak barrels – approximately one third of which are brand new. The wine is then aged for around 15 months on its lees, adding further depth and complexity.
Aromas & Taste:
The wine is led by ripe stone fruits and fresh citrus notes, elegantly complemented by hints of white blossom, toasted bread, fresh butter and almonds. A clean, flinty, wet-stone minerality rounds out the bouquet beautifully.
On the palate, the wine is powerful, full-bodied and wonderfully balanced. Its silky texture is matched by a lively, precise acidity. The finish is long, clean and refined.
Serving:
We recommend serving at 12–15°C in a white wine glass.
Pairs beautifully with seared seafood in rich butter or cream sauces, fatty white fish, delicate poultry or veal with mushroom sauce, as well as aged French cheeses – Comté, Beaufort or the creamy Cîteaux.
